Welders are in great demand today.  Most welders are retiring and new welders needed for excellent jobs around the region.  For employees in the manufacturing industry, upgrading your welding skills is a very smart career move.  

Welding I


Learn the basic skills for electric arc stick welding (SMAW), wire feed (MIG), oxy acetylene/propane gas cutting and brazing, and plasma arc cutting. This course is designed for small business owners, hobbyists, artists, do-it-yourselfers, and farmers. Practice welding will be with mild steel in common positions and using common joints. The course is 80-90% hands on and the rest theory and principles. Small projects will be considered after the first three classes. Approval of the instructor required. 


Class Preparation

Work clothes required including cotton pants (jeans preferred), work boots (steel toe or not) and cotton long sleeve shirt. 

Welding II

Learn more advanced skills for electric arc stick welding (SMAW), wire feed (MIG), gas tungsten (TIG) welding in multiple positions on mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum for common applications. Improve oxy acetylene/propane gas cutting and brazing, and plasma arc cutting. More emphasis will be placed on non-ferrous metals and elementary metallurgy than Welding I. This course is designed for small business owners, hobbyists, artists, do-it-yourselfers, and farmers. The course is 80-90% hands on and the rest theory and principles.  Small projects will be considered after the first three classes. Approval of the instructor required. Student provides their own materials for projects. There is a $125 material fee per student due to the instructor the first day of class for welding rod, welding wire, practice metal, gas and grinding wheels, safety glasses.  Welding helmets, gloves and other protective gear provided for classroom use.
